CHARLIE HATCHER’S PLATFORM

CHARLIE HATCHER’S PLATFORM

Families are working harder and paying more for groceries, utilities, housing, transportation, insurance, and nearly everything else.

Washington cannot spend and borrow its way to prosperity. Charlie will fight inflationary federal spending, unnecessary regulations, and policies that raise the cost of energy and doing business.

He supports expanding American energy production, strengthening domestic supply chains, encouraging competition, and creating an economy where wages can grow without government driving prices higher.

Tennessee families should be able to keep more of what they earn.

America should never become dependent on another country for the food we put on our tables.

As a farmer, veterinarian, former State Veterinarian, and former Commissioner of Agriculture, Charlie understands the threats facing our food supply better than most people in Washington.

He will fight to protect American farmers, strengthen agricultural biosecurity, defend our livestock and crops from foreign disease threats, improve domestic food production, and reduce our dependence on foreign countries.

A nation that cannot feed itself cannot truly secure itself.
Food security is national security.

A country without a secure border cannot remain secure.

Charlie supports enforcing America’s immigration laws, providing Border Patrol with the personnel,
technology, infrastructure, and resources necessary to do its job, and stopping illegal drugs, human
trafficking, and criminals from entering the country.
America should maintain a legal immigration system that welcomes people who follow the rules while
making it clear that our laws and borders matter.

Securing the border is one of the federal government’s most basic responsibilities.

America needs an economy that builds things, grows things, and produces energy here at home.

Charlie supports an all-of-the-above American energy strategy that includes natural gas, nuclear power, renewables, and other reliable domestic energy sources.
Affordable and dependable energy means lower utility bills for families and lower operating costs for farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses.

Charlie will also fight unnecessary federal regulations and permitting delays that prevent businesses from investing, expanding, and creating good-paying American jobs.

Energy independence means economic independence.

America’s farmland is a strategic national resource.

Charlie believes hostile foreign governments and entities controlled by foreign adversaries should not
be allowed to buy American farmland, particularly land near military installations, critical infrastructure,
food-production facilities, and other sensitive locations.

Congress should strengthen transparency requirements, close loopholes, and give federal and state
officials the tools necessary to protect America’s agricultural land.

We should never allow countries that threaten America’s security to gain control over the land that
helps feed our country.

Washington has a spending problem.

Families and businesses have to live within budgets, and Charlie believes the federal government should do the same.

He will fight wasteful spending, demand greater accountability from federal agencies, support efforts to eliminate fraud and duplication, and work toward reducing the national debt without breaking promises made to seniors and veterans.

Every government program should have to answer a basic question:

Does this provide value to the taxpayers who are paying for it?

Strong families and strong communities are the foundation of a strong America.

Charlie believes in protecting religious liberty, defending the rights of parents, supporting the sanctity of human life, and preserving the freedom of Americans to live and worship according to their faith.

Government should strengthen families rather than attempt to replace them.

Charlie will stand for the traditional Tennessee values that have helped build strong families and communities for generations.

The Second Amendment is not a suggestion. It is a constitutional right.

Charlie will defend the right of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms and oppose efforts by Washington to create unnecessary restrictions on responsible gun ownership.

He believes we can vigorously prosecute violent criminals while protecting the constitutional rights of citizens who obey the law.

Charlie will stand with Tennessee gun owners and defend the Second Amendment in Congress.

The men and women who protect our country and our communities deserve more than our thanks — they deserve our support.

Charlie will stand with veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and other first responders.

That means demanding better accountability and service from the VA, supporting those who protect our communities, fighting the flow of fentanyl and illegal drugs, and ensuring local agencies have access to the tools they need to keep people safe.

Those who serve us should know that their country stands behind them.

Washington too often forgets that its decisions have real consequences in communities hundreds of miles away.

Charlie will make constituent service a priority and fight for the infrastructure Tennessee communities need — roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems, broadband, energy capacity, disaster response, and support for agriculture and economic development.
He will work with local officials instead of dictating to them from Washington.

Charlie wants Tennesseans to have a Congressman who answers the phone, shows up, listens, and gets things done.

The people of Tennessee’s 5th District will always be the priority.
